CENTRAL COAST SURF DESIGNS FLYER PINTAIL

 This board is a 7'
Central Coast Surf Designs
single fin flyer pintail.
Built at the Wamberal factory
in 1975/76
Bill thinks it may have been
 a personal board.

 Pre restoration.
Visible repairs on the tail.

The bottom was in such poor condition
the glass had to be removed.
It had pretty much completely delaminated
and was covered with stress marks.
The white patch is the old repair
mentioned in the above image.

 New bottom lam down.

 Prepped and ready for some
pigment work to hide the
old repairs.

 Deck glossed.

 Deck logo.
This is a logo used at
AGE surfboards when Bill worked there.
It is also the
Bing Surfboards 'Maui Foil' logo
circa 1969.
Bill told me that he stopped
using the logo when he found out
it belonged to Bing Surfboards.

 Typical mid 70's foil.
Very refined.
With the original fin.

The finished product.

NIRVANA FLUTED BAT TAIL

Fluted bat tail.
Early 80's thruster.

Found on a council pick up.
Its amazing what people throw out!

In house custom sprays
back in those days.
This board must have been stored inside.
The spray job looks as good as the day it was done.

The tail had been squared off at some stage.
Fortunately the bat tail was left in tact.
Visible in second image.

Foil is still pretty flat through the middle and tail.

The trailing edge centre fin has
been modified.

Finished.
Bill was pretty excited to see this board.

CENTRAL COAST SURF DESIGNS

This is a label owned by Bill Cilia (Nirvana Surfboards)

This board is 7'5"
I would say it was built in the early to mid 70's.
I will confirm.
I spoke to Bill on the weekend.
Bill said that the board would have been one of the first
boards built under this label.
Probably 73/74.
The logo is an old AGE surfboards logo.

Handcrafted by Bill Cilia.

Some delams were re bonded on the deck.
The two dark areas on the deck are previously re bonded delams.
A cedar tail block was fitted.

The bottom was covered with stressies from nose to tail.
These were sanded back to the glass.
Any dings and lows on the bottom and rails were repaired.
Then the bottom was re glassed with a layer of 6oz.
This was lapped around the rails onto the deck.
The deck, apart from the delams was in pretty fair condition.

SWEET COUNTRY CORN

Sweet Country Corn was a brand built by Bill Cilia (Nirvana Surfboards) while he was working at Shane Surfboards in the 70's. Bill can't remember how many boards he built under this label. But he does remember how he came up with the name. The story goes that Bill was sitting down with Shane one day at the factory and they were discussing what name he could use on these new boards. At the table was a can of Sweet Corn.

This board had a basic restoration. Dings repaired, gloss and polish.

70'S NIRVANA RESTORATION

This is a Nirvana. Built at Kincumber on the NSW Central Coast. The board was shaped by Terry Moane. This is its second restoration. It is still owned by its original owner. The bottom needed to be re built. There was a large area of delam on the nose and there was a crease and delam on the tail forward of the fin. The deck had also delamed forward of the legrope plug. The bottom was reglassed, faired and painted with auto acrylic paint. And gloss coated. The deck is original.
